"Dear diary: Today I was pompous and my sister was crazy. Today we were kidnapped by hill folk, never to be seen again. It was the best day ever." -Jayne, Firefly

"Dear journal: Today, guy grabbed my ass at a Wal*mart and I saw Kim Hooper's tit. It was the best day ever." -Me, Livejournal

I talk an awful lot about not much at all. It's like dysentery of the brain. Nevertheless, it's all organized. My journal isn't "friends only," but the good drama- on the rare occasion it happens- is definitely filtered.

Not that I can say there has been much drama in the past couple years... aside from getting diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, having a brief ER stint, and the stress over dealing with a $35k bill on a part-time retailer's paycheck, life has been pretty good. I mean, hey! I totally got married and we had a rock-concert-themed wedding.

After several years of community college purgatory, I finally transferred to UCSD where I got a BA in Interdisciplinary Computing in the Arts. It is sold as having infinite possibilities, but after graduation, I was working at Toys R Us, and was stuck there for nearly a year. It wasn't a complete waste, though: I learned a little about computers and art, a lot about myself and also was in a band (well, technically a duo) for a while... long enough such that I felt comfortable moving in with my bandmate, his girlfriend, and a friend of theirs. Shortly after moving in, I met who would soon become my best friend and the love of my life, [info]storyteller42 (aka [info]slowestzombie). It was and remains presently a match made in geekdom.

Currently, we live together in a nice little apartment. It's cluttered but homey, and I love everything about it except the neighbors who neglect their consequently obnoxiously yippity dogs. I have my own little studio and a lot of free time to obsess over toys and crafting, and some afternoons I teach junior robotics. Which basically means I get to play with kids and Lego Mindstorms. It's actually more work than it sounds, but it's still the best job ever, and something that's related to my major! Gasp!

Oh, and my name is Katherine. Some people call me Kathy. That is all.
